Kenya Coffee School Coffee Lab & Capacity Development Initiative

The Coffee Lab is a transformative platform for Capacity Development in Coffee Value Addition, designed to empower farmers, cooperatives, youth, women, traders, and coffee professionals through practical coffee evaluation skills, entrepreneurship training, and social impact innovation.

Coffee Labs — whether private or public — play a critical role in strengthening the coffee value chain by creating access to quality analysis, sensory evaluation, grading knowledge, market readiness, and professional skills development. They provide an environment where coffee stakeholders can learn, experiment, innovate, and improve the overall quality and competitiveness of coffee production and trade.

The Kenya Coffee School Coffee Lab aims to become the leading hub for specialty coffee education, sensory analysis, cupping, and value addition support in Kenya and beyond. Our mission is to support farmers, cooperatives, coffee factories, exporters, youth groups, and aspiring entrepreneurs who wish to enter and grow within the global coffee trade.

Through our laboratory and training programs, we support:

  • Coffee Evaluation & Sensory Analysis (Cupping)
  • Green Coffee Quality Assessment
  • Specialty Coffee Skills Development
  • Coffee Value Addition & Product Innovation
  • Factory and Cooperative Capacity Building
  • Entrepreneurship & Social Impact Development
  • Market Readiness and Trade Knowledge
  • Barista and Brewing Skills
  • Coffee Quality Awareness for Farmers
  • Youth and Women Empowerment in Coffee

We also support the efforts of Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) in streamlining and professionalizing the cupping and coffee evaluation industry through structured Specialty Coffee Skills Training, education, and industry-driven capacity development.

By bridging practical learning with real market systems, the Kenya Coffee School Coffee Lab seeks to create a stronger, more knowledgeable, and globally competitive coffee ecosystem that benefits producers, traders, and consumers alike.
